Well, given the situation the Canucks were in, Crawford must have figured Auld was his man and he wanted his #1 in every important game.
On the other hand, one of Crawford’s biggest downfalls is that there are certain players he just doesn’t trust AT ALL. Steve McCarthy, while he wasn’t playing very well, didn’t have any trust from Crawford and you could tell it affected Steve’s game. When Burke signed Slegr, Crawford only played him b/c he had no other choice. Crawford has also shown the same lack of trust in most every other backup (Skudra, Hedberg). There is no rhyme or reason for Crawford’s choices..he simply doesn’t like certain players and makes no secret of it.
The way Crawford conveys his lack of trust has an obvious effect on the players (although Slegr still played well). If you are in Crawford’s ‘doghouse’, you are stuck there forever, and the players who’ve been there have obviously had their confidence wrecked.
Anyway, I’m just rambling, but the point is that Noronen just doesn’t have the trust of Crawford and likely never will (assuming one or both are gone after this season)
