globesports.com: Ducks laugh off Hull’s comments:

Ducks players were shrugging off comments Hull, now a hockey analyst with NBC, made during Anaheim’s 2-1 overtime win against the Detroit Red Wings Sunday. The Ducks lead the Western Conference final 3-2 and can advance to the Stanley Cup final by beating the Red Wings in Tuesday’s Game 6 (CBC, 9 p.m.) in Anaheim.

“If I was Detroit, I would not be worried about being down 3-2, because they dominated,” Hull said on air after the game. “They can go in and win (Game 6) and come home and win Game 7.”

I gotta say — I love Hull as commentator for his ability to speak his opinion and willingness to shoot himself in the foot. But, his foot must be getting very tired of being shot….

if I was Detroit, I’d be really worried that I’ve played two games as well as I have, and lost both, thanks in part to awesome goaltending by Giguere (who is outplaying Hasek, who is not playing badly at all), and now find myself one game short of elimination despite my play, because all the Ducks have to do is continue to “get lucky” and have Giguere do it one more time. Detroit not only has to continue to play that well, it has to figure out how to beat Giguere (i.e., “play even better”) and get lucky; and do it twice.

Doesn’t mean they can’t. Detroit’s very capable of it. But so’s Anaheim, and Hull’s blowing this one out of his, um, nose. IMHO. if Anaheim wins tomorrow night? well, his right big toe must be worried.
