Balsillie bid for Predators rejected: report:

Craig Leipold has withdrawn his offer to sell the Nashville Predators to Canadian billionaire Jim Balsillie, according to the Canadian Press.

The Predators’ boss reportedly advised the National Hockey League in a letter that he no longer wishes to have Balsillie as a potential owner of the franchise.

well, gee. what a surprise.

I wonder what the next shoe to drop is. But now Leipold has that local ownership group that wouldn’t show up without a major threat on the team moving. Wonder where we heard that before?

I guess the only question left is whether Leipold used Balsillie here, or whether there’s a deeper (i.e., get a team for hamilton if you do us a favor) but informal deal here. time will (maybe) tell.
