james mirtle: Sharks boost ticket prices – A hockey journalist’s blog:
Sharks fans disappointed by their team’s second-round playoff exit now have something else to stew about: the highest ticket-price increase in the 13 seasons the team has played at HP Pavilion.
we got ours. for the first time, we talked seriously about relocating to less expensive seats. We ended up deciding not to. But we thought about it.
Ouch. On the other hand, the Sharks have weak media revenues and are losing money. I understand their position, too, and I strongly believe a team needs to be close to break-even if you want it long-term viable in your market, so unlike a lot of fans, I’m not ripping the Sharks over this. But it is a bit sad that there’s a chance we may decide to give up our seats to the corporates because of the cost down the road.
