My colleague Teresa recently wrote about how App requests are starting to feel like spam. As we quickly found out, she is not alone.

My solution has been to ignore app requests. There’s a big list in my sidebar of apps that I haven’t bothered to reject because it takes more effort than it’s worth.

So Facebook should expire them. Think about it.

I like the idea of expiring requests (LinkedIn allows you to archive them, making them go away) if you view them but take no action. Maybe a pair of “archive” and “save for later” buttons, where if you do nothing, it’ll start a timer on that request.

But for those who are bothered by all of the update emails, try this:

log onto facebook.
select account
select the notifications tab
turn off all of the checkboxes
click “save changes”

Now, facebook won’t email you an of this stuff. it’ll still be there when you visit facebook, but it won’t be in your email or your face. It makes facebook MUCH less intrusive, because wihle the requests are there, they leave you alone until you go to the site, so dealing with them is under your control again.
