Doing my (jury) duty…

Back among the living, or at least the online. did my civic duty, and spent the last couple of days in court being considered for a jury of peers to sit in judgement in a case of law.

As it turned out, they decided I wasn’t what they wanted on the jury, so I was released this afternoon. In court, of course, they strongly discourage you to turn off your cell phones, much less look for open wifi (and the bailiffs with tasers tried their hardest to look serious when telling you so), so I spent a couple of days unplugged and awaay from things. Pretty much caught up with the first round of reading and email, and working away at stuff now. Fortunately, I won’t be spending the next three weeks empaneled, although unlike some folks, I understand the process and support it, so if I’d been called, I wouldn’t have bitched (and I’d have ended up working evenings and weekends to keep up at work…). But honestly, it’s even better to do your service by trying to do your service…
