Damien Cox on Ryan Hollweg

Apparently not. Hollweg is about to receive his second suspension in a matter of weeks, a three-gamer this time for checking from behind, his favourite hockey play.

Let’s be clear. This oaf on skates doesn’t score goals, or set up plays, or generate a forecheck or even protect his teammates. Ever since he’s been in the league, he has been known as a player who does one of three things every time he’s on the ice:

1) Takes about 25 strides and charges an opponent.
2) Leaves his feet to hit an opponent.
3) Hits opponents from behind.

He’s a dangerous, dangerous hockey player, and for all the wrong reasons.

I agree completely. This kind of player has no place in pro hockey.

    Yes, and worth noting, Hollweg did NOT receive a penalty for hitting Simon from behind, and he should have, which would have made this a fifth(!).

    1) Its his 4th in 6 months! Some may also have forgotten he was the player who was the instigator of the Chris Simon stick incident a year earlier. When, you guessed it, Hollweg hit Simon from behind(giving Chris a concussion)
    2) If Simon had been the one boarding 4 different players in about 40 games played would he have recieved only 3 games? Its a trend folks. Throw the book at this creep before he really hurts someone!
