About For Your Consideration

I’ve always been fascinated with writing reviews. Back in the 80′s, I published a fanzine called OtherRealms that was almost entirely about reviewing Science Fiction and Fantasy. That publication got very good feedback and was nominated for a couple of Hugos back in the day. Since then, I’ve occasionally considered going back into reviewing on a regular basis, but I’ve never had a setup I thought worked well and met me requirements for time and energy commitments (since this is a hobby and I plan on keeping it that way)

Enter For Your Consideration. My goal is to write 3-4 reviews a month. My life has broadened considerably since the days of OtherRealms, and so will the range of reviews found here.

A reviewer is not a critic. The job of the reviewer is to help you, a potential buyer, make a purchasing decision. Your budget is finite, does this thing deserve some of it? I know it will annoy some people, but I believe my time and energy is better used helping you find stuff you’ll like than trying to scare you away from things you won’t. Better those things die in silence of neglect than make noise and draw attention to them. Because of this, you’ll rarely see a negative review here.

Your feedback is encouraged. Leave a comment or send me an email. The more voices chiming in the better, especially if you disagree. My only request: keep it civil. Trolls won’t be tolerated, but I want to encourage as many opinions as I can.

Disclaimer: I usually purchase all materials I review. If I receive compensation or goods as part of a review, I will disclose that in the review. If you have something you would like me to consider reviewing, please contact me and we’ll talk. Some reviews have links off to sites where you can purchase the items I’m recommending; if you use that link to purchase the item, the site you buy it from will toss a percentage of the sale back to me through an affiliate agreement. Those dollars help pay for the hosting and upkeep of those sites, so if you find these reviews useful, I’d encourage you to buy from the affiliate seller. It costs you no money to do so, and it’s completely optional, but the affiliate sales help encourage me to put more time into the reviews. It’s one tangible way to give feedback on what I’m doing here that you want to see it continue.
